For the second time, between 5 and 9 of October, Gothenburg is carrying out the so called Framtidsveckan 2015. This event wants to make visible the transformation towards an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable of Gothenburg city.
During this week, many events are taking place and, together with the Environmental Office of the city of Gothenburg, we are going to carry out 6 soundwalks at 3 different neighborhoods: Linné and Haga (6/Oct), city centre (7/Oct) and Angered (8/Oct).
Why?
As Jean-François Augoyard wrote, “Every urban moment has a sound signature”. In order to analyse those signatures and its performance, either we can talk about sound quality or unwanted sound, but in in the complex interaction between human perception and sound environment, much more than the outdoor energy equivalent sound pressure level is involved. We are aware that everyday sounds may change our behavior without even noticing it, and experience them in their urban context may help in the complex analysis of perception of sound.
With these soundwalks we want to invite you to:
- LISTEN to the environment: become an active listener
- rediscover their sense of hearing,
- raise the importance about sound environment as part of the quality of life,
- identify qualities of different spaces,
- identify the appropriateness of sound environment to the space and the activities performed,
- be part of the urban sound planning of your city…
