EuroRegio took place last June 13-15 in the beautiful city of Porto-Portugal. This conference was organised jointly by the European Acoustic Association (EAA), the Portuguese Acoustical Society (SPA- Sociedade Portuguesa de Acústica) and the Spanish Acoustical Society (SEA- Sociedad Española de Acústica).
An important part of the congress was the EAA Summer School and the Forum for Young Acousticians, on the 11th and 12th of June. The Summer courses included several topics from: “Environmental acoustics and smart cities”, “Sustainable acoustics and vibrations in buildings”, “Room and Musical acoustics”, “3D virtual acoustics” and last but not least “Numerical methods in acoustics”. SONORUS supervisor Maarten Hornikx, from TU Eindhoven was one of the main lecturers of the “Numerical methods in acoustics”. The feedback, from the many participants of this course, was very positive!
On Monday, there were two SONORUS students’ presentations at the “Environmental acoustics and smart cities” session:
Like Jiang: Developing an online virtual reality application for e-participation in urban sound planning
Both presentations went very well and at the end of the session several people revealed their interest in our project, its results and in attending our International Symposium.
Finally, Joachim Scheuren, the SONORUS coordinator of communication with the city representatives, gave the final plenary lecture under the topic “Research and Development in Acoustics for Practical Sound Control Engineering”, which was the perfect closing for a very successful conference!
Stay tuned, as soon we will be revealing more about SONORUS participation at Inter-Noise 2016 in Hamburg!
