A great part of the project is carried out with and within the four test sites. Together with them we are developing new ideas, opportunities and we are trying to incorporate them in our daily research.

Matthew Easteal
Senior Projects Manager at Brighton and Hove City Council. He has 35 years experience in Local Government –His background and experience started in Waste Management working 7 years in London . After relocated to Brighton in 1985 where his work for the city has included contract management of public services, Environmental Protection , enforcement, management of the cities Drug and Alcohol team and most recently public realm management and design.
His work focuses on public realm design and management and working with communities to improve quality of life for residents and visitors – with a focus on environmental improvements and reducing crime and Anti social behaviour. Matthew is also a board member of DOCA http://www.doca.org.uk/ a forum for professionals and practitioners , from architects to designers, local authorities to home owners and community interest groups who have an interest is design and its implications for safer, healthier communities.
Formed in 1999, DOCA focused on promoting safer communities and reducing anti-social behaviour by improving the quality of life through the concept, application and practice of designing out crime and its principles. Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). Matthew advocates and promotes utilising a multidisciplinary approach to make safer, healthier communities.
He firmly believes SONORUS principles are a model for all City planners to aspire to –

I work for the Energy and Environmental Department in the City of Antwerp as environmental adviser/project manager regarding noise policy and noise related issues. I represent the city of Antwerp in the SONORUS project and give support to the Sonorus-students who work on the Antwerp testsite.

Currently working with the envonmental administration in the city of Gothenburg mainly on environmental issues in cityplanning and plans for infrastructure. I have noise as a field of expertise. My role inside Sonorus is as representative for Gothenburg city an associated partner.
